Driver Injured After Bus Crashes Into Apartment Building in Bay Ridge

Brooklyn, NY (September 16, 2025) – Early Saturday morning, on September 13, emergency crews responded to a dramatic crash in Bay Ridge after a Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) bus struck an apartment building.

The incident occurred just after 1:30 a.m. when a 26-year-old driver in a Honda Accord, traveling southbound on Ridge Boulevard, collided with an MTA bus that was heading westbound on Bay Ridge Avenue. The impact forced the bus onto the curb and into the side of a nearby apartment building.

Authorities reported that the Honda driver was transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn to treat his injuries. Fortunately, the bus driver was not injured, and no passengers were reported to be on board at the time of the crash.

Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the collision. We hope the injured victim makes a full recovery.

Compensation After Brooklyn Bus Accidents

Collisions involving buses and private vehicles in Brooklyn can lead to serious injuries, extensive property damage, and significant financial burdens. These accidents often impact not only the drivers and passengers directly involved but also nearby residents, pedestrians, and property owners who may suffer damages from debris, structural impact, or traffic disruptions.

Victims of bus accidents frequently face medical expenses, including emergency care, hospital stays, follow-up appointments, medications, and sometimes long-term rehabilitation. In addition to healthcare costs, accident victims may encounter vehicle repair bills, property damage claims, and lost income if they are unable to work during recovery.

The aftermath of a bus crash can be overwhelming, especially when multiple parties may be responsible. In many cases, liability can involve the private driver, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), and various insurance providers. Navigating this complex legal landscape without guidance can make it difficult to secure fair compensation.

A skilled New York City personal injury lawyer plays a pivotal role in protecting victims’ rights. Attorneys can thoroughly investigate the crash, gather evidence, interview witnesses, and determine which parties are liable for damages. They work to ensure that victims receive full compensation for medical bills, lost wages, property damage, and any long-term care that may be required.

Legal representation can also help ease the burden of dealing with insurance companies, which may attempt to minimize payouts or deny claims.
