Brooklyn, NY (July 2, 2025) – A traffic collision unfolded in Bath Beach Tuesday morning when a transport van carrying adults with special needs veered off the road and slammed into a tree, injuring all 14 occupants.
The crash occurred just before 10 a.m. on Cropsey Avenue. According to authorities, the driver of the D & J Ambulette Services van swerved to avoid another vehicle, causing the van to lose control and crash head-on into a tree, splitting the tree in half on impact.
Inside the van were 13 people en route to an adult daycare center—12 adults with special needs and one chaperone—along with the 44-year-old driver. All sustained injuries and were transported to NYU Langone Hospital for evaluation. One individual suffered a leg injury, and another was treated for a head laceration. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene and ensured all passengers received prompt care.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
We hope for the full recovery of the injured victims.
New York Traffic Accidents
Car accidents remain a major concern throughout Brooklyn’s diverse neighborhoods, from the bustling intersections of Flatbush Avenue to the winding roads of Bay Ridge and the traffic-heavy Belt Parkway. As the borough continues to grow and traffic density increases, so does the risk of serious collisions that can leave victims facing painful injuries and mounting hardships.
Whether it’s a rear-end crash in Williamsburg or a T-bone collision in Crown Heights, many Brooklyn residents find themselves dealing with more than just vehicle damage after an accident. The physical, emotional, and financial toll can be overwhelming.
Common challenges that accident victims in Brooklyn experience include:
- Serious Physical Injuries: Broken bones, head trauma, spinal injuries, and internal damage often require extensive medical care and long-term recovery.
- Soft Tissue & Whiplash Injuries: Even lower-speed crashes can lead to chronic pain, mobility issues, and lingering discomfort.
- Emotional and Mental Trauma: Anxiety, flashbacks, and post-traumatic stress can disrupt your daily life and healing process.
- Financial Stress: From ER bills to lost income, the costs of a crash can quickly spiral out of control, especially when insurance companies push back.
Many car accidents in Brooklyn are caused by preventable behaviors such as distracted driving, speeding, running red lights, or driving under the influence. Poorly maintained roads, malfunctioning signals, and driver inexperience also contribute to the high number of collisions in the borough.
