Manhattan, NY (July 8, 2026) – A construction worker was injured Wednesday morning after falling into a hole at a Second Avenue subway construction site in East Harlem.
According to reports, the worker fell roughly eight feet into a mud-filled excavation at the site along Second Avenue shortly before 9:30 a.m. Fellow crew members and firefighters worked together to free the worker, who was transported to a hospital and reported to be in stable condition. The MTA ordered a safety standdown at the site for the remainder of the day while the circumstances of the fall were reviewed.
