Compensation After a Pedestrian Accident in Brooklyn

Pedestrian accidents in Brooklyn can result in severe injuries or fatalities, and victims or their families may be entitled to pursue compensation. Depending on the specifics of the case, recoverable damages may include:

  • Medical Expenses: Victims can seek compensation for hospital bills, surgeries, medications, rehabilitation, and ongoing care. Accurate documentation of all medical treatments is essential to support a claim.
  • Lost Wages: Injuries may prevent victims from working. Compensation can cover lost income, reduced earning capacity, and future lost wages if recovery is extended.
  • Pain and Suffering: Victims may pursue damages for physical pain, emotional distress, and limitations on daily life. This includes long-term physical impairments and psychological trauma.
  • Property Damage: If personal items, such as a phone, glasses, or mobility aids, were damaged in the accident, victims may be reimbursed for repair or replacement costs.
  • Wrongful Death: In fatal accidents, surviving family members may file wrongful death claims, covering funeral expenses, loss of financial support, loss of companionship, and emotional suffering caused by the sudden death.

Consulting a skilled New York wrongful accident lawyer is essential to ensure all potential compensation avenues are explored. An attorney can gather evidence, negotiate with insurance companies, and guide families through claims to help ensure victims and their loved ones receive the support they deserve.
