Brooklyn, NY - Fatal Accident on Knapp St Takes One Life, Injures Three Others

Brooklyn, NY (August 5, 2025) – A tragic vehicle accident early Tuesday morning on the Belt Parkway claimed the life of a 22-year-old man and left three others hospitalized with injuries.

The crash occurred on August 5, around 12:30 a.m., near the Knapp Street exit in Sheepshead Bay. Authorities reported that a white Lexus lost control, veered off the road, and struck a tree. Witnesses said the vehicle appeared to be traveling at high speed just before the incident, and one bystander suggested a possible tire blowout may have contributed to the crash.

The driver was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released. The three male passengers, all in their early twenties, also sustained injuries. One 20-year-old suffered a broken leg and was transported to Maimonides Medical Center, while a 22-year-old passenger with other injuries was also taken to Maimonides. Another passenger, who endured two broken legs, was taken to Kings County Hospital.

NYPD highway patrol remained at the scene for several hours, investigating the cause of the crash and clearing debris. Police confirmed that a motorcycle was removed from the area, though it is unclear whether it was involved. No other vehicles or drivers were reported injured.

Authorities and the community extend their condolences to the family of the young man who lost his life and hope for a full recovery for those injured.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased individual. We also hope those hurt recover swiftly.
