Thanksgiving Day deadly for drivers, passengers

Drivers in the New York City metro area and throughout the country should practice extra caution on Thanksgiving Day, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. More people die in fatal car accidents on Thanksgiving than on any other holiday. On Thanksgiving Day in 2012, there were 50,000 motor vehicle accidents with no fatalities and 764 in which there were fatalities. This compares to 654 fatalities from car accidents on Christmas Day in 2012.

Wrong-way crash on state highway leaves 3 dead, 3 injured

New York City motorists who have ongoing concerns about safety on the roadway may want to know about a fatal incident that occurred in the north-central part of the state on Nov. 7. Three people were killed in Oswego County after an elderly driver traveled the wrong way on state Route 481 for more than seven miles.

Design failure leads to recall of washing machines

New York City consumers may be interested in knowing that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and a major manufacturer of popular consumer products are recalling 2.8 million top-loading washing machines following reports that nine people were hurt when their unit exploded during use. The recall affects 34 different Samsung washing machine models that were sold from March 2011 to November 2016.

Excessive speed tops list of aggressive driving behaviors
